The Hopeful Horizon

I’m on a ship heading for nowhere

But nowhere is hope.

Hope is a dream; a peace that God is there

waiting far beyond the water’s glare.

I’m on this ship and there is no land in sight.

The journey is slow and arduous;

The expectant days turn to lonely, empty nights.

This ship forges ahead through times good and bad.

The only known is the unknown,

My course is uncharted with no destination had.

I yearn for answers, when will the horizon change?

I pray for a miracle daily

Up and down the waves of emotions range.

I’m on a ship heading for nowhere

But nowhere will be somewhere.

The hopeful horizon keeps me sailing.

  1. The horizon is eternally far,
You will never reach the place
Where sky kisses sea in peaceful embrace.
Look rather to the wake of the ship,
    The souls on the desk
The souls that come and go.
Do not look to the horizon –
    The end is illusion.
